Anton Paasi
E-commerce strategist. Family guy. Helsinki, Finland.
Who I am
I grew up in rural Finland and have spent the better part of my adult life in Helsinki, building a career at the intersection of commerce, technology, and customer experience. I’m 42, and I still think the Finnish countryside is underrated.
Outside of work you’ll find me on a bike, digging through music, or contributing to web projects that support Finnish families. I speak Swedish, Finnish, and English. While writing this I’m still unsure of what will be the site’s main language.
What I do
I’m what you might call an E-Commerce Strategist at Verkkokauppa.com — Finland’s most popular online retailer. I’ve been part of the company since April 2007, which means I’ve grown alongside Finnish e-commerce from its early days to where it is now.
I’ve worked in many roles in sales and marketing, but my true inspiration comes e-commerce, particularly algorithmic recommendations, personalisation, and product discovery. Some recent highlights which I’m particularly proud of include:
Currently, I’m working with Product Information Management (PIM). I thinks this is one area where LLM’s truly have the potential to enable all kinds new kinds of automations and processes.
Alongside my day job, I contribute web development work to Pienten Suomi and Pienten Helsinki — community projects supporting families across Finland.
